We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and inspiring Teacher of Animal Management to join our successful and growing curriculum team.
This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate educator with industry knowledge and experience of animal care, animal management, veterinary-related studies, or a closely related field. The successful candidate will inspire students to develop their understanding of animal welfare, husbandry, behaviour, health, and industry practices while supporting them to achieve outstanding outcomes.
Teaching Responsibilities
- Teach across our animal management programmes at levels 1, 2 and 3, including the BTEC Extended Certificate in Animal Management and the T level in Animal Management.
- Teach topic areas including animal husbandry and handling of various species: invertebrates, fish, amphibians, herptile, avian and mammals.
- Teach animal physiology, animal health and disease, and animal behaviour.
- Deliver ethical issues related to animal care, presenting both sides of the arguments.
- Contribute to course coordination and curriculum development, keeping up to date with current industry practice.
- Maintain an awareness of emerging developments in theories and practices related to animal care, incorporating relevant developments into teaching.
- Develop students’ practical skills and theoretical knowledge through delivery of well-planned, creative and interesting lessons.
Qualifications and Experience
- Degree or equivalent in animal care or related area.
- A teaching qualification and experience would be preferable.
- Experience from an industry or commercial setting would be an advantage.
- Enhanced DBS certificate required.
