Bewicke Medical Centre is looking to recruit an experienced and motivated Practice Nurse to join our friendly and supportive team. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled nurse with experience in general practice, particularly in immunisations, cervical cytology, long‑term condition management, and QOF delivery. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering high‑quality patient care, supporting chronic disease management, and contributing to improved health outcomes for our practice population.
Responsibilities:
- Delivering long‑term condition (LTC) reviews including asthma, COPD, diabetes, and hypertension
- Undertaking cervical smears in line with national screening programmes
- Providing and managing all immunisations, including routine childhood vaccinations, seasonal vaccinations (flu, COVID‑19), and travel vaccinations and travel health advice
- Supporting the practice in achieving QOF targets and enhanced services
- Delivering health promotion and NHS Health Checks
- Maintaining accurate clinical records and coding
Person Specification:
- Registered General Nurse (RGN) with current NMC registration
- Evidence of continuing professional development (CPD)
- Certified in immunisations and vaccinations
- Trained in cervical cytology (smear taking)
- Experience working within General Practice or Primary Care
- Experience working with Quality and Outcomes Framework (QOF) targets
- Experience of working with EMIS or other clinical systems
- Knowledge of QOF, NICE guidance, and national screening programmes
- Up‑to‑date knowledge of immunisation schedules and travel vaccines
- Competent clinical assessment and decision‑making skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Strong IT skills and accurate record keeping
- Understanding of infection prevention and control
- Knowledge of safeguarding procedures for children and vulnerable adults
