Job summary
We are excited to offer the opportunity of the role of Medical Receptionist at our Practice.
The role of Medical Receptionist covers a wide variety of duties including face to face and telephone patient contact. Booking appointments, handling queries, working with the other Practice staff to deliver excellent and timely care to our patients.
Main duties of the job
Reception Duties
Act as first point of contact for all patient enquiries having the ability to navigate patient care appropriately Respond to all queries and requests for assistance from patients and other visitors
Resolve issues only delegating upwards when unable to solve
Ensure patients without appointments but who need urgent consultations are booked in a logical and nondisruptive manner
Explain practice arrangements and formal requirements to new patients and those seeking temporary cover ensuring compliance with the registration policy
On line patient registration ensure on line patient registration is actioned with immediate effect and that the patient is able to use the online services
Ensure all visitors are booked in and out using the visitor book Inform the person being visited of the person arrival
Liaise with Doctors and Nursing staff as required
Ensure reception and waiting areas are kept neat and tidy
Appointment system
Book appointments and recalls
Prescription Clerk Duties following suitable inhouse training
Process discharge letters from hospitals
About us
We are a large Practice in Newton Aycliffe with 13,500 patients. We have 5 GP Partners, 6 Salaried GP\’s, 3 Advanced Nurse Practitioners, 6 Practice Nurses and 5 Health Care Assistants.
In addition there is a large admin team to support the clinical teams.
We are a training Practice where we invite trainee GP\’s and Nurse\’s to work with us in their training programme.
We are a friendly and professional Practice and work as one team.
