Beverley Morris & Co., a firm of solicitors based in Blackheath Village, S E London, seeks a Private Client Paralegal. The position has arisen due to maternity cover, but this position is permanent. It is office based and full time 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday. The firm's private client team comprises two solicitors, two paralegals (including this role) and one junior assistant.

Private Client Team Responsibilities:

  • Wills
  • Probate
  • Lasting Powers of Attorney
  • Court of Protection applications
  • Deputyship applications
  • Trusts

Requirements:

  • At least two years experience of dealing with private client work
  • A willingness to be a team player and take accountability for work assigned to them
  • A knowledge of AML procedures
  • Competence in using a case management system (ALB)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Outlook, Word, Excel and Teams
  • Excellent organisational ability (will be supporting two solicitors)
  • The ability to handle a range of legal correspondence and documents
  • Good oral and written communication skills whether in person, by telephone or by email
  • Sufficient maturity to deal with sensitive situations such as a bereaved client
  • Assertiveness to progress matters, ask questions and make best practice suggestions, where appropriate

Annual leave is 20 days plus Bank Holidays and Christmas closing. The firm has a group pension scheme. This is a wonderful opportunity to progress in this particular field as part of a team of lovely people. Our offices are well-equipped, air‑conditioned and in a very attractive part of S E London. We are three minutes walk from Blackheath mainline station and also close to bus routes. Salary range: In the region of £28,000 to £30,000 pa dependent on level of experience. NB The successful candidate will also be asked to assist the firm's Litigation and Family departments.
