About the Role
The Oasis Leisure Team Member (Lifeguard) plays a vital role in ensuring the safety, wellbeing, and enjoyment of all guests using the swimming pool and leisure facilities. This position requires a qualified, vigilant, and customer-focused individual who can maintain high safety standards while delivering excellent service in a busy leisure environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise all swimming pool areas, maintaining constant vigilance to ensure guest safety at all times
- Provide a professional and welcoming service to all guests
- Communicate effectively with colleagues and management using radios, telephones, and email systems
- Adhere strictly to all Normal Operating Procedures (NOPs) and Emergency Action Plans (EAPs)
- Respond promptly and appropriately to emergency situations, administering first aid when required
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene throughout the Oasis Centre, including poolside areas, showers, changing rooms, and storage areas
- Attend and actively participate in regular NPLQ training sessions as scheduled by the Leisure Manager
- Accurately complete incident, accident, and daily operational reports in line with company procedures
- Maintain a personal training and competency log
- Demonstrate knowledge of gym equipment and provide guidance to guests when required
- Carry out routine checks to ensure gym and leisure equipment is safe and fit for use, reporting faults or maintenance issues promptly
- Monitor and report defects relating to lifeguarding, gym, and general leisure equipment
- Handle customer enquiries and complaints professionally, escalating issues to a supervisor when necessary
- Operate the company till system and comply with all cash handling and key control procedures
Education, Training, and Experience
- Previous lifeguarding experience and a good understanding of the leisure industry
- National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ) (preferred)
