As our Privacy Manager (Advisory) you’ll play a key part in delivering strategic guidance and effecting business transformation by embedding the core principles of privacy by design and privacy by default into all aspects of the group and its operations. The role will support the Group Data Protection Officer in strategy definition, data protection governance, data protection training and the delivery of the Data Protection Programme.

To achieve this, the Privacy Manager will, as a recognised subject matter expert, be responsible for:

  • Education and awareness
  • Embedding Privacy by Design across the organisation
  • Reviewing, updating and sometimes creating Policies
  • Integrating key processes such as Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs), Legitimate Interest Assessments (LIAs) and Records of Processing Activities (ROPA) into Business as Usual (BAU) processes
  • Liaising with IT/IS, data architects and the delivery teams
  • Supporting the wider operational needs of the privacy team by implementing tactical solutions wherever necessary

What you’ll do:

  • Maintain an expert knowledge of all relevant legislation, regulation, industry guidelines and technical documents
  • Act as a subject matter expert for all Data Protection issues
  • Maintain a broad understanding of compliance processes such as AML and Responsible Gambling processes
  • Provide the business with commercially aware advice and support, based on expert knowledge, industry best practice and empirical evidence
  • Create and maintain documented processes, procedures and training materials for staff education and awareness across the group
  • Deliver training across the group
  • Update and create policies
  • Work with Group Data Protection Officer to develop the privacy function in the UK, Spain, Malta and anywhere else we operate
  • Create and develop GAP analyses relevant to countries in which we operate
  • Provide support to the team on DPIAs, data subject rights requests, record of processing activities and any other BAU activity
  • Work with the Group Data Protection Officer on incident/breach management
  • Manage key stakeholders and business owners required to deliver appropriate business and technical controls
  • Assist the Group Data Protection Officer with strategy creation
  • Assist the Group Data Protection Officer in identifying and managing risks relating to personal data
  • Provide expert input into 3rd party assurance, data governance and data protection projects
  • Create and maintain internal records and logs of control status, overall compliance levels, consent management and Records of Processing Activities
  • Work closely with the IT/IS teams to ensure we meet requirements of Article 32 of GDPR
  • Be a proactive advocate and brand ambassador of the Privacy Programme across the business
  • Assist in ad hoc duties as and when required

What you’ll bring:

  • Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to high‑quality work

  • CIPP/E and possibly CIPM accreditation
  • Experience providing specialised training to stakeholders and colleagues across all levels of the business
  • Experience running incident or breach risk assessments and advising on remedial action
  • Experience using and configuring a third-party privacy programme software
  • Ability to create and document operational processes and procedures
  • Stakeholder management experience
  • Experience of leading data protection projects
  • Knowledge of the Information Security or Cyber Security domains, whilst always putting privacy first
  • Experience in monitoring data protection controls and identification of risks
  • An interest in the gambling sector and the challenges unique to an online operator

Desirable skills you’ve got up your sleeve:

  • In-depth knowledge of sports betting markets, including odds calculation, betting types and market trends
  • Previous experience in the online gaming or casino industry, with a strong understanding of player behaviour and industry regulations
  • Familiarity with gambling regulations and compliance requirements in various jurisdictions
  • Experience in developing and executing customer retention strategies
  • Relevant degree such as in law or regulation
  • Experience of working in the gambling sector or for a regulatory body
  • In-depth experience in defining and delivering business transformation and remediation
  • Experience with architectural frameworks
  • Knowledge of industry standards such as ISO27001/2, 27702
  • Good understanding of project and programme methodologies
  • Ability to be creative and able to find innovative solutions to problems
  • Knowledge of wider regulatory requirements such as gambling regulation and AML regulations
  • Knowledge of auditing and 3rd party assurance
  • Knowledge of data governance best practices
