Senior IT Developer role at Bettys & Taylors of Harrogate
Overview
Bettys & Taylors Group is home to three iconic Yorkshire brands – Yorkshire Tea, Bettys and Taylors of Harrogate. This is a unique opportunity to join a transformative project within a collaborative group IT team. The Senior IT Developer will provide technical leadership and expertise for the Development and Test team, mentoring developers to design and build ERP system configurations, extensions, and integrations between ERP (IFS) and Integrated Systems via an IPaaS (Snaplogic). The role is responsible for developing high‑quality, secure, resilient, and supportable solutions that meet functional requirements and align with end‑to‑end designs.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, and maintenance of ERP (IFS) configurations and integrations using SnapLogic and other integration platforms to meet evolving business needs.
- Provide technical leadership and mentoring to the Development and Test team, promoting best practices, upskilling colleagues, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with Project teams and Continual Delivery initiatives to deliver high‑quality IT solutions aligned with project timelines and business priorities.
- Develop secure, scalable, and supportable solutions using modern programming languages (PL/SQL, .NET, JavaScript, Python) and Azure services, including Service Bus and Functions.
- Define and promote coding standards and best practices across development, ensuring compliance with standards and regulations (ISO27001, PCI DSS, GDPR).
- Manage version control, documentation, and release processes, coordinating with teams supporting live service (IT Solutions, Service Hub) for traceability and smooth service transitions.
- Translate business requirements into robust Low-Level Designs in collaboration with architects and stakeholders.
- Drive innovation through research, prototyping, tool evaluations, and adoption of emerging technologies (low-code/no-code, AI/ML, event-driven architectures).
- Champion continuous improvement of development methodologies, tools, and processes; contribute to internal standards and governance to improve efficiency.
- Engage with cross‑functional teams and advisory boards to influence development strategy and ensure cohesive delivery.
- Utilise project and collaboration tools such as Azure DevOps, Confluence, and Halo to manage development tasks and maintain transparency.
- Maintain knowledge of IFS and SnapLogic capabilities; share expertise and develop internal best practices within the Dev and Test teams.
- Provide technical escalation support, incident and problem management, and occasional out‑of‑hours support as needed.
