This is a unique opportunity to be at the heart of a transformative project, working with a passionate and collaborative team of over 40 people in group IT. As IT Solutions Operations Manager you will lead and manage the operation and maintenance of enterprise applications, instilling a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration within the Application Operations team, resulting in best-in-class processes, attitudes, and utilisation of technology. The role will offer hybrid working based from Harrogate (HG2 7DL). Please note that this position is not suitable for fully remote applicants, as regular on-site collaboration in Harrogate is essential.

Responsibilities

  • Leading the Application Operations, driving excellence in day-to-day operations.
  • Develop and share best practice through engagement with both internal and external peers.
  • Providing mentorship and coaching to the team, embedding a culture of learning which results in a team who are committed to continually increase their capability and depth of knowledge.
  • 3rd line support for enterprise applications and integrations, including incident management: quickly identifying, diagnosing, and resolving application-related incidents to minimise downtime and impact on colleagues; leading problem management and root cause analysis to implement preventative measures and drive service improvement; ensuring effective event management with appropriate alerting, monitoring, and planned responses.
  • Positively engaging in execution and continuous improvement of departmental processes.
  • Taking part in researching opportunities and embracing change through effective horizon scanning and external networking to proactively shape and deliver the Group’s IT strategy.
  • Staying informed on new technologies which may benefit both Application Operations and the wider IT function.
  • Reviewing the risk and renewal roadmap of the enterprise application estate: including monthly, quarterly, and annual updates.
  • Leading proactive monitoring of the application estate, to ensure solutions are operating efficiently.
  • Partner with suppliers and Infrastructure to manage availability and capacity.
  • Optimize application performance by identifying bottlenecks and implementing improvements.

Qualifications

  • Significant experience supporting large scale, complex solutions, with strong technical knowledge of ERPs and integrations.
  • Significant experience of coaching, mentoring and training others; experience of leading teams and managing people.
  • Experience of working in a 3rd line IT support role: managing IT incidents, requests, problems, and changes in line with industry best practice (ITIL).
  • Up to date knowledge of new technologies, IT solutions and best practice including ISO27001 and ITIL.
  • Excellent communicator, able to listen, understand, interpret and communicate non-technical and technical information to a wide range of audiences.
