We are growing our Technical team and are looking for a Quality Assistant – Packaging to join us at Taylors of Harrogate, where we blend and manufacture our premium range of tea and coffees, including our famous Yorkshire Tea. In this role you’ll be part of a passionate team that works hard to ensure every product meets the highest standards of food safety and quality. You’ll work collaboratively with the Quality Co‑ordinator, Quality Assistant – Product and the wider Technical team to support our Manufacturing teams in ensuring that our products, premises and processes comply with legal, customer and best practice standards relating to food safety and quality. This is an on‑site role and your hours of work will be Monday to Friday (37.5 hours). Specific hours will be agreed during the recruitment process.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer and coordinate packaging reject processes, ensuring timely liaison with suppliers to complete investigations and provide appropriate feedback.
- Complete incoming packaging checks where required.
- Work collaboratively with Packaging Technologists and the Packaging Buying team to elevate and resolve quality concerns.
- Support resolution of recurring or minor packaging issues, contributing to the site‑wide Compelling Business Need (CBN).
- Actively participate in cross‑functional problem‑solving exercises from a quality perspective.
- Conduct customer complaint investigations (foreign body and other serious complaints).
- Manage packaging tare weights and maintain calibration packs used by Manufacturing teams, ensuring accuracy and compliance with production requirements.
- Collaborate on product quality activities such as quality checks, documentation inspection and scale checks as required.
About You
- Knowledge of food safety, HACCP and quality management systems.
- Ideally a minimum of Level 3 Award in both Food Safety and HACCP for Manufacturing.
- Strong, practical mathematics skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong computer literacy (including MS Office) and excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to build strong relationships.
- Ability to manage your time effectively, prioritise workload and feel comfortable working in a changing environment.
