An exciting opportunity has arisen in our kitchen team and we are looking for a skilled chef with experience to join our team at Bettys Cafe Tearooms in York. As a Chef, you play a key role, working in the busy service kitchen/s and prep kitchen and be responsible for preparing delicious hot food e.g. Rosti, Kedgeree as part of a deliciously magical experience for every customer. You will enjoy working as part of a team, also working on other kitchen stations, alongside Catering Assistants, to prepare cold food and drinks. You will report to one of the Catering Team Leaders, and when you are fully up and running in the role and training has been provided, occasionally you may be given the opportunity of stepping up to support the operation if they are absent or needed away from the floor, e.g. to organise breaks, open and close and ensure the relevant food safety and quality checks are completed.
This is a Part Time role working 30 hours, 5 days over 7 to include working evenings up to 11pm and one day at the weekend every week. We do not ask anyone to work split shifts. If you would like to discuss working patterns, please provide more details in your application.
Responsibilities- Prepare delicious hot foods in the busy service kitchen and prep kitchen, including items such as Rosti and Kedgeree, as part of a positive guest experience.
- Work across kitchen stations and with Catering Assistants to prepare cold foods and drinks.
- Report to a Catering Team Leader and, when trained, may step up to support operations in their absence (e.g., organise breaks, open and close, and complete relevant food safety and quality checks).
- Follow working patterns as listed (part-time, 30 hours, 5 days over 7, with evenings and weekend shifts) or discuss patterns in your application.
