About Us: Grandbies is a sophisticated coffee house and upmarket café, nestled in the heart of Northampton. As we expand our offering, we’re looking for a skilled and passionate Barista/Chef to join our growing team.

About the Role: This is a hybrid position perfect for someone with professional chef experience who also has a basic to intermediate level of barista skills. You’ll pendulum between preparing coffee and cooking in the kitchen, with a primary focus on delivering our food menu to a high and consistent standard. We’re not a high-volume café, but we care deeply about quality and consistency in everything we serve.

  • Prepare and cook food to order, consistently executing our evolving menu.
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and kitchen organisation.
  • Support barista duties including coffee preparation when needed.
  • Take pride in plating and presentation.
  • Assist with stock management, prep and ordering.
  • Follow food safety, allergen, and hygiene regulations.
  • Work independently and collaborate well with the front-of-house team.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Proven chef/cooking experience in a kitchen setting (essential).
  • Some experience making coffee using an espresso machine.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to consistency.
  • Calm, organised and professional - even during busy moments.
  • A friendly, team-oriented attitude and good communication skills.
  • Food hygiene certification is a bonus.
