The platform supports the full assessment lifecycle, from authoring and review through to delivery, invigilation, marking, and audit, across digital, paper, and hybrid exam models.
The Role
BetterExaminations is seeking an experienced Sales Executive to create and manage new business opportunities for its exam management and assessment platform. The role is focused on acquiring new higher education customers by building longāterm relationships, establishing credibility in the assessment and exams domain, and contributing to sector knowledge and discussion. You will work closely with demand generation and marketing activity, while also leveraging your own networks and sector presence.
The ideal candidate will have experience with higher education assessment and or eāassessment solutions and services, and will be comfortable engaging with academic leaders, professional services teams, IT stakeholders, and senior decision makers across institutions. This role suits a driven individual who enjoys winning new business, understanding complex institutional challenges, and clearly communicating value through insightāled conversations and structured sales execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Acquire new higher education customers by building trusted relationships across the assessment and exams community
- Promote the BetterExaminations platform through direct sales activity, supported by demand generation and marketing initiatives
- Develop and execute targeted sales plans focused on new customer acquisition
- Identify, qualify, and progress opportunities through inbound demand generation, strategic outreach, and established sector networks
- Own and manage the full sales cycle from qualification through to contract close, including product demonstrations, pilots, and proposal submission
- Build and maintain an accurate sales pipeline, including forecasting and reporting
- Deliver clear, credible product demonstrations and presentations to academic, administrative, and IT stakeholders
- Represent BetterExaminations at industry conferences, trade shows, and sector events, contributing to discussion and knowledge sharing
- Maintain accurate and upātoādate records within the BetterExaminations CRM system
- Stay informed on assessment, exams, and eāassessment trends to engage confidently and credibly with the sector
- Consistently meet or exceed agreed new business revenue targets
Skills and Experience Required
- Proven experience selling software or services into higher education
- Strong understanding of assessment, exams, or e-assessment environments within universities
- Demonstrated success with consultative, solutionāled sales approaches
- Ability to build credibility and trusted relationships with academic, administrative, and senior institutional stakeholders
- Confidence presenting and demonstrating software solutions in person and online
- Experience supporting structured procurement processes, including RFPs and RFIs
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate value propositions
- High level of professionalism with the ability to manage multiple opportunities and deadlines
- Collaborative, teamāoriented mindset with a willingness to work closely with marketing, product, and delivery teams
- Comfortable representing the organisation at conferences, events, and sector meetings
- Willingness to travel as required for the role
