GLL, the UK’s largest leisure provider and one of the first and largest leisure social enterprises, is looking for an enthusiastic Pickleball Coach based at Peter May Sports Centre in Waltham Forest.
Pickleball is one of the fastest-growing sports, and this is an exciting opportunity to help develop the sport within the local community. As a Pickleball Coach, you’ll play an important role in introducing participants to the sport, developing their skills and helping them enjoy an active and social experience.
You’ll be passionate about pickleball and motivated to share that enthusiasm with participants of all abilities. You’ll deliver engaging, safe and progressive sessions, adapting your coaching to suit different levels of experience and helping participants build their confidence and skills.
You’ll thrive on seeing others develop and enjoy being part of a team that delivers a great customer experience. As the programme develops, there may be opportunities to take on additional coaching hours and deliver sessions at other leisure centres across Waltham Forest.
What you need:

- A passion for pickleball and developing others
- Good knowledge of health and safety
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to coach and engage participants of different abilities
- Be a great team player
- Relevant pickleball coaching qualification or recognised coaching experience
What you’ll do:
- Deliver high-quality pickleball coaching sessions
- Plan and deliver sessions that are safe, fun and progressive
- Adapt coaching to suit different ages and abilities
- Support participants to develop their pickleball skills and confidence
- Set up and put away pickleball equipment and courts
- Deliver first-class customer service
- Deal with customer queries and provide appropriate support
- Ensure participants are observed and kept safe throughout sessions
- Provide feedback and encouragement to participants
- Maintain registers and participant records using GLL tablets
- Assist with warm-ups and cool-downs
- Help create a welcoming and inclusive environment for all participants
- Work with the wider leisure centre team to support the growth of the pickleball programme
- Where required, deliver coaching sessions at other Waltham Forest leisure centres
