Betterthancure. ngo supports and funds many innovative programmes designed to help prevent some of the most common psychological, emotional, and physical health challenges faced by children, adolescents, and adults of all ages.

Position Overview

Who are you?

A person who passionately cares about children’s and adolescents’ emotional, cognitive and physical health.

Possibly a parent and / or a teacher with extensive experience in children’s education.

Experience in ALN would be an advantage.

A person who is keen to be a Trustee of a new preventive Health Charity in Scotland.

Work Details

This is a part‑time consultancy/managerial position (we can guarantee 10 hours per week, but we are open to accommodating).

The work would suit someone on sabbatical or who would like additional work to their main career.

Work is hybrid – we have an office in Stirling and travel there should be comfortable for you.

This will be discussed at interview – but it will not be less than your equivalent rate as a teacher.

Responsibilities

You will be able to use your experience and expertise in working with children and consult in recommending materials suitable for children primarily aged 3 to 12 years of age.

  • Materials Development
  • Ages 5–8: Picture books, colouring, activity and novelty books.
  • Ages 6‑9: First chapter books and graphic novels.
  • Ages 8–12: Middle‑grade novels and graphic novels.
  • Ages 12‑18: Young adult novels and graphic novels.

Qualifications

  • Strong interest and understanding of audio, visual and print story‑telling for these story groups.
  • Extensive experience of working with children of various ages.
  • Strong organisational skills.
  • Good communication, with diplomacy and tact.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously as and when required.
  • Ability to travel with notice.
  • Ability to work harmoniously with colleagues.
  • Comfortable undertaking routine supervision to establish and maintain the office in Stirling.
  • Good presentational skills.
  • Relevant experience of working with individuals with Additional Learning Needs.
  • Ability to work under pressure as and when required.
  • Competence in the use of a range of IT systems and packages.
  • Additional Information

The role is open to persons who are a parent, teacher, or have relevant experience in child education and additional learning needs.
