My client is an early-stage AI startup building intelligent agent-based systems for enterprise automation and decision support. Backed by leading investors and with a founding team from top-tier AI and engineering backgrounds, they’re now looking for a Founding Software Engineer to help shape their core product.
This is a hands-on engineering role with significant ownership across architecture, design, and deployment of AI-powered systems.
The Role:
- You’ll work closely with the founders and early customers to build production-ready agentic workflows, natural language interfaces, and the underlying infrastructure that connects LLMs, retrieval systems, and user-facing applications.
- Expect to be involved in:
- Building AI agent pipelines that chain LLM reasoning with external APIs, tools, and databases
- Developing natural language interfaces that allow users to interact with agents via chat, web, or API endpoints
- Deploying, monitoring, and optimising LLM-based systems for speed, cost, and reliability
- Working across backend (Python) and frontend (TypeScript / React) stacks to deliver end-to-end functionality
- Setting up observability, tracing, and evaluation frameworks for agent performance
- Shaping engineering culture and early product roadmap
Ideal Background:
- Strong software engineering fundamentals (data structures, system design, testing)
- Experience building and deploying AI or LLM-powered applications in production
- Familiarity with agent frameworks like LangChain, LlamaIndex, Semantic Kernel, or custom-built agent architectures
- Proficiency in Python for backend AI pipelines and TypeScript / React for frontend or user interface work
- Understanding of natural language processing concepts, embeddings, and vector search
