Senior Ecommerce Lead

  • Our client is a £150+ million turnover, multi-site retail business. Private equity back.
  • This is a new Senior Ecommerce Trading role, reporting to the Marketing Director.
  • Talented in-house teams across Brand, Social Media & Content, Ecommerce, Trade and CRO, CRM and Digital & Performance.
  • Agency support for their Media and TV campaigns. Year-round TV campaigns

Key responsibilities:

  • Own and drive the Ecommerce Trading strategy forward, ensuring its usability and customer satisfaction.
  • Analyse and optimise site performance using various data sources including customer data, site metrics, marketing and competitor research – making recommendations to drive performance.
  • Overseeing a comprehensive CRO plan to inform website development and improve metrics (in house support).
  • Drive commercial performance and user engagement across the company’s mobile app, using data insights and optimization strategies to improve outcomes.
  • Leverage web analytics tools and internal reporting systems to gain a deep understanding of user behaviour, enabling the development of strategies to enhance the customer journey and website performance.
  • Regularly review the performance of key landing pages, implementing improvements to drive higher engagement and conversion rates.
  • Deliver actionable insights to cross-functional teams, helping to improve category conversion, customer engagement, and overall sales effectiveness based on data-driven analysis. (Merchandising, Buying, Product and Digital)
  • Plan and optimize product merchandising in alignment with marketing campaigns, promotions, seasonal trends to enhance commercial performance.
  • Oversee product availability and lifecycle on the website, collaborating closely with buying and merchandising teams to optimize stock performance and sell-through rates.
  • Support international growth by enhancing product visibility and performance on third-party partner websites and marketplaces.
  • Lead and monitor core website performance metrics (such as conversion rate, bounce rate, average order value, exit rates, and traffic trends), sharing insights with key stakeholders and driving initiatives to improve outcomes.
  • Contribute to overall business growth by supporting strategies aimed at achieving year-on-year improvements in online revenue and profitability.
  • Manage a team responsible for uploading and presenting products on the website, ensuring accurate representation, high-quality content, and performance-focused merchandising.

The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experiences:

  • Highly analytical and numerate and proficient in excel and Google Analytic
  • Proven ability to manage and develop a team, promoting ownership and accountability
  • Have a proven track record in driving site optimisation working closely with a senior management team
  • Ability to interpret data and use metrics like conversion rates and sales performance to inform decisions
  • Ideally experience working closely with wider Digital and SEO teams, gained experience in their digital marketing strategies.
  • Basic knowledge of web development and UX/UI principles.
  • Experience with A/B testing and personalisation tools
  • Good commercial awareness
