Public Sector Tenders | Healthcare & Social Care
Stevenage Herts – Hybrid Role
Up to £60k
Are you an experienced Bid Writer who is ready to take more ownership — not just of the bids you write, but of the people and processes behind them? Our client is a growing and innovative business that helps organisations secure valuable public sector contracts. Working particularly within healthcare, social care, supported living and other regulated services, they combine specialist bid expertise with technology to make the tender process more efficient, organised and successful.
They are now looking for an experienced Senior Bid Writer / Bid Team Lead to lead and develop their bid writing team while continuing to play a hands-on role in producing and reviewing high-quality submissions. This would suit someone who knows what a strong public sector bid looks like, enjoys improving the way things are done and gets genuine satisfaction from helping other writers become better at what they do.
The Job
You’ll take responsibility for the quality and delivery of bids across the team, making sure deadlines are met and every submission is persuasive, accurate and fully compliant. Your role will include:
- Leading and supporting a team of Bid Writers, allocating workloads and monitoring progress including coaching and mentoring.
- Planning, writing, editing and overseeing PQQs, ITTs, DPS applications and framework submissions.
- Reviewing tender responses and managing multiple live tenders, identifying where answers can be strengthened and improvements made.
- Working with clients and colleagues to gather the technical, operational, commercial and financial information needed to build strong responses.
- Reviewing evaluator feedback and tender outcomes to identify opportunities to improve process and future submissions and win rates.
What Are We Looking For?
You’ll already have solid experience within bids and tenders and be comfortable taking responsibility for both quality and delivery. You’ll ideally have:
- Experience as a Senior Bid Writer, Bid Manager, Bid Team Leader or similar.
- Previous experience managing, supervising, coaching or mentoring other Bid Writers.
- A strong understanding of UK public sector procurement and tendering processes.
- Experience producing ITTs, framework submissions and DPS applications.
- Excellent written English and strong editing and proofreading skills.
- The ability to turn complex information into clear, persuasive tender responses.
- Excellent organisation and the confidence to manage several deadlines and stakeholders at once.
- A naturally thorough approach — you’ll be the person who spots the missing evidence, unanswered question or weak response before it becomes a problem.
It Would Be Particularly Useful If You Have…
- Experience within healthcare, social care, supported living or other regulated public sector services would be a real advantage.
- Knowledge of CQC, Ofsted or care-sector regulation would also be useful, as would experience using procurement portals such as Atamis, Proactis, In-Tend or The Chest.
- Experience utilizing digital platforms and AI to enhance process and bid quality.
- A relevant degree or professional bid management qualification would be useful, although practical experience and a strong track record will be equally important.
The Person
This is more than a writing role. You’ll need to be someone who can keep a cool head when several deadlines collide, maintain high standards without slowing everything down and give constructive feedback that helps people improve. You’ll be organised, commercially aware and comfortable taking responsibility — but you’ll also enjoy being part of a collaborative team in a growing business. Most importantly, you’ll understand that successful bid writing is about much more than producing polished words. It’s about understanding the question, finding the evidence, demonstrating value and making it easy for an evaluator to see why your client should win.
If you’re an experienced Bid Writer looking for a role where you can combine your writing expertise with leadership, process improvement and real influence over bid quality, we’d love to hear from you.
