Job Overview

The Better Cotton Initiative, the world’s leading cotton sustainability initiative, has over 2,500 members and approximately 13,000 non-member suppliers interacting with the Better Cotton Platform (BCP).

To safeguard the credibility of the initiative and manage reputational and regulatory risk, we operate the Member Monitoring Protocol and compliance process aligned to our Code of Practice.

To date, monitoring activities have focused on Members only and rely significantly on manual processes.

As membership numbers grow and external scrutiny intensifies, we have reassessed the scope, scalability, and risk prioritisation of the monitoring programme and are implementing a new revised monitoring and due diligence model.

  • Oversee the investigation and escalation process when potential breaches of membership and BCP terms are identified by either Members or BCP Suppliers
  • Gather additional information as necessary, including audit availability, status and score, full audit reports, evidence of commitment to environmental and social standards, and annual audited report or financial results
  • Present case information in a timely manner to relevant demand & engagement management and leadership, as well as the Head of Function when applicable, to support timely decision‑making as outlined with the Member Monitoring Protocol
  • Roll out and manage a new facility risk and compliance technology platform to strengthen BCI’s visibility of facility‑level risk exposure
  • Identify, explore, and implement integration opportunities with existing social compliance programmes to limit manual data exchange where possible
  • Advise on data integration/automation needs between business‑critical systems such as the BCP and Salesforce to enable central data reporting/records and publishing in the member portal where applicable
