Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Ultrasound team at Wrexham Maelor Hospital as a Band 2 Radiology Clinical Support Worker.
This varied, patient-facing role is central to the smooth running of the department. You will welcome and support patients throughout their visit, help prepare clinical rooms and equipment, and provide practical assistance to sonographers and other members of the multidisciplinary team. You will also undertake reception, clerical and computer-based duties to help ensure accurate records and an efficient patient journey.
We are looking for a caring, reliable and well-organised individual with good communication skills, confidence using computers and experience of working with the public. Previous healthcare or imaging experience is desirable, but not essential, as training and support will be provided.
The post is primarily based within Ultrasound at Wrexham Maelor Hospital, with the potential to work at community sites according to service needs. Flexibility and a willingness to learn are therefore important. This is an excellent opportunity to develop your skills and contribute to a welcoming, safe and high-quality diagnostic service.

The post holder will support patients, sonographers and the wider Ultrasound team before, during and after examinations. Duties will include welcoming patients, confirming demographic details, providing basic examination information, acting as a chaperone when required, and assisting patients with changing, mobility, positioning and other practical needs while maintaining dignity, privacy and confidentiality.
You will prepare clinical rooms, trolleys, equipment and consumables; clean and decontaminate equipment and patient areas in line with departmental procedures; monitor stock levels; and help maintain a safe, clean and well-organised environment. Any concerns about a patient’s condition or safety must be reported promptly to registered staff.
The role also includes reception and administrative duties, such as answering telephone and face-to-face enquiries, contacting patients and clinical areas, recording information accurately and using radiology and clinical IT systems. You will work within agreed procedures, complete delegated tasks, prioritise your workload and contribute positively to the day-to-day running of the service.
The post holder will work mainly in Ultrasound at Wrexham Maelor Hospital, with possible cross-site working in community locations to support service delivery. Duties may vary during the working day in response to clinical and operational priorities.
