Are you an enthusiastic and highly motivated nurse who is ready for a challenge? The East Site Urology Nursing team is seeking a highly self‑motivated practitioner to promote and develop clinical excellence. The successful postholder will join an established Urology Nursing team and provide nursing support to inpatient and outpatient areas.

Main Duties

  • The post holder will be the lead nurse practitioner in prostate cancer, providing professional clinical support to patients across the cancer investigation or treatment pathway, delivering compassionate, patient‑centred care and coordinating multidisciplinary working.
  • Leading the straight‑to‑test service and managing the prostate cancer pathway.
  • Managing difficult conversations, including the delivery of bad news.
  • Requesting and interpreting histological, biochemical and radiological tests.
  • Actively contributing to clinical audit and service evaluation.
  • Attending oncological MDTs and acting as the key‑worker for patients.
  • Supporting urology services to maintain cancer targets and problem‑solve to ensure best practice.

  • NMC Registered Nurse
  • Masters level education
  • Post‑basic or postgraduate qualification in urology or equivalent experience
  • Significant experience within urology
  • Degree nurse education

Desirable Criteria

  • Mentorship or counselling qualification
  • Teaching and assessment qualification
  • Experience of nursing oncology patients

Experience

Essential Criteria

  • Post‑graduation experience in urology, oncology or relevant speciality at a band 6 level.
  • Experience of multi‑professional working

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience of undertaking audit work and standard setting

  • Working autonomously within agreed protocols.
  • Ability to negotiate and communicate complex medical issues with all members of the multidisciplinary team, referring where appropriate.
