An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced clinical lead to join the Mental Health and Learning Disability team within the integrated Healthcare team here at HMP Berwyn, a category C prison for adult men with a range of varied health needs. This is a great opportunity to embed change and a shared culture with HMP and the probation service. The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Main duties of the job

  • To be responsible for the clinical management of the Mental Health & Learning Disabilities Team and be part of the Nursing team providing healthcare to those in custody, working flexibly to meet the changing needs of the service.
  • To be responsible for the day to day organisation and smooth running of the multidisciplinary team providing a service to a diverse caseload of clients who are presenting with Primary and Secondary mental health and learning disability issues, including the administration of medicines.
  • To understand the importance of clear care planning, through assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care in accordance with the Mental Health (Wales) Measure 2010.

Person Specification

  • Qualifications: RMN, Post-Degree Education in a relevant field, Evidence of having developed clinical practice and Continued Professional Development, Academic qualification relating to Mental Health or Learning Disability.
  • Experience: Previous experience in a supervisory or management role, Proven experience of managing and dealing with complex HR cases, Experience of working in a prison or locked environment.
