We currently have an opportunity in our Portering Services Department for an enthusiastic, motivated individual to work in our Materials Management Department within the Wrexham Maelor Hospital. The post holder will respond to requests for the movement of goods in an appropriate and timely manner to provide a comprehensive and efficient service. This will involve the lifting, transferring, pushing and pulling of substantial weight.

The Health Board offers excellent working conditions including a generous entitlement of paid holiday, enhanced pay for weekend working and an opportunity to join the Superannuation Pension Scheme. We are offering a permanent contract of employment for the following post: 1 Part time post - 20hrs – working 5 days per week as follows Monday - Friday 0800-1200. Rates of pay are £11.62 per hour.

Main duties of the job:

  • Portering Services provides essential support to all areas of the hospital.
  • The porter will be expected to react to the various challenges within the working environment, and the workload may be increased due to external influences including the environment, weather.
  • The porter will work as part of a team contributing to the smooth running of the service, providing an efficient and effective response to requests.
  • Whilst many of the tasks are generally routine, the daily functioning of the service may be unpredictable; therefore, a flexible approach is essential and the post holder will be expected to use their own initiative.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
