The Junior Prosthetist will assess, prescribe and treat amputees and those with limb absence through the provision of custom‑made medical devices. The role involves designing and creating technical drawings, selecting appropriate materials, and ensuring that devices meet the complex needs of severely disabled clients using a range of manufacturing processes and IT systems.
Main Duties
- Support ongoing maintenance, fault‑finding and repair of specialised prosthetic devices.
- Participate in multidisciplinary clinics with team members and referring services within BCUHB and externally.
- Share clinical experience and decision‑making with other MDT services.
- Provide upper‑ and lower‑limb treatment for complex cases, with oversight from senior clinicians for veteran treatment, myoelectric upper‑limb and micro‑processor provision.
- Undertake domiciliary visits to clients and visit hospitals, schools and other establishments accompanied by a team member.
- Assemble, adjust, demonstrate and instruct users in the use of equipment; manage own workload and contribute to group workload planning.
Welsh speaking is desirable; English speakers are equally welcome.
