We currently have an opportunity in our Portering Services Department for an enthusiastic, motivated individual to work within the Radiology department at the Wrexham Maelor Hospital. The post holder will respond to requests for the movement of patients and goods in an appropriate and timely manner to provide a comprehensive and efficient service. This will involve the lifting, transferring, pushing and pulling of substantial weight with the assistance of mechanical aids where a risk assessment has identified the need to use them; these may include mechanical movers and stairwell climbers.
The Health Board offers excellent working conditions including a generous entitlement of paid holiday, enhanced pay for weekend working and an opportunity to join the Superannuation Pension Scheme. We are offering a permanent contract of employment for a full-time post (37.5 hours) – working 5 days per week; Monday to Friday 09.00am to 17.00pm. Rates of pay are £13.45 per hour. This is a physically demanding role.

Main duties of the job
Portering Services provides essential support to all areas of the hospital. The porter will be expected to react to various challenges within the working environment; the workload may increase due to external influences including the environment, weather, patient capacity etc. The porter will work as part of a team, contributing to the smooth running of the service, providing an efficient and effective response to requests for patient movement, assistance in emergency situations, collection and delivery of samples and medicines etc. Whilst many tasks are generally routine, the daily functioning of the service may be unpredictable; therefore a flexible approach is essential and the post holder will be expected to use their own initiative.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
