We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Advanced Podiatrist to join our specialist Foot Ulcer Team within Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board’s East Area. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in delivering high‑quality, evidence‑based care to patients with complex foot ulceration, including those with diabetes, vascular disease, and high‑risk foot complications. The post holder will work both autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team (MDT) to reduce ulceration, prevent amputation, and improve patient outcomes. The successful candidate will demonstrate advanced clinical skills, preferably prescribing, imaging experience, leadership capabilities, and a commitment to service development, supporting the continued evolution of podiatry services across Wrexham and Flintshire.

Main duties of the job:

  • Provide advanced assessment, diagnosis and management of patients with complex foot ulceration, including diabetic foot disease.
  • Manage a specialist caseload autonomously, delivering evidence‑based care such as wound management, debridement and offloading.
  • Work as part of the multidisciplinary foot team across hospital and community settings, contributing to admission avoidance and discharge planning.
  • Support service development, audit and clinical governance.
  • Provide supervision, training and education to staff and students, and maintain accurate clinical records in line with professional standards.

Detailed Job Description And Main Responsibilities:

  • Provide clinical leadership in managing complex foot ulcer patients within the MDT, ensuring delivery of safe, effective, evidence‑based care.
  • Work autonomously to prioritise and manage caseloads, supporting admission avoidance and timely discharge.
  • Contribute to service development, audit and clinical governance.
  • Supervise, mentor and support staff and students, promoting best practice.
  • Maintain accurate records, effective communication and patient‑centred care, supporting self‑management and improving outcomes.

Person Specification:

  • Essential Criteria: Degree in Podiatry (or equivalent) with HCPC registration. Evidence of postgraduate study / CPD relevant to high‑risk or diabetic foot management.
  • Desirable Criteria: Significant experience in managing complex foot ulceration and high‑risk patients. Demonstrable experience of working within a multidisciplinary team (MDT).
