To support the work of the dental team by providing dental nursing skills and clinical administration including General Dental Service paperwork and cash handling at the base clinic and other locations as required. To facilitate a high standard of patient care to all users of the service. The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
Main duties of the job
- Administratively responsible to the Senior Dental Nurse and ultimately accountable to the Clinical Director for North Wales Community Dental Service.
- Clinically responsible to the Clinician to whom the candidate is assigned.
- Travel within the North Wales Community Dental Service locality, for example clinics, hospitals, schools, domiciliary visits, mobile dental units and to carry out treatment at other sites such as nursing homes. Travel expenses will be paid.

Essential Criteria
- Smart, presentable appearance consistent with working in the clinical environment.
- Ability to travel between sites in a timely manner.
- Awareness of the importance of confidentiality.
- Self‑motivated and enthusiastic.

- Flexible, reliable and adaptable.

- Recent or current dental surgery experience.
- Assisting in the treatment of children, and anxious patients both children and adults.
- Certificate in Dental Nursing or equivalent NVQ.
- Proven maintenance of post‑basic training.
- Evidence of CPD.
- National Registration.
Desirable Criteria
- Ability to understand spoken and written Welsh language.
- PC literate.
- Training in date for (uncertain).
- CPR.
- Manual Handling.
- Cross‑infection Control.
- Experience of and commitment to Quality Assurance & Clinical Governance.
- Flexible approach to working within CDS within the Trust.
- Experience with child and adult special care patients (including the elderly).
- Dental Health Promotion.
- Outworking in a Mobile Dental Unit or on domiciliary visits.
- Stock control and ordering.
- Post‑basic certificate in any of the following: Sedation, Special Care, Radiography, Oral Health, Orthodontics.
