A new and exciting opportunity has arisen within the substance misuse service for an experienced, motivated and forward thinking nurse to join a busy and supportive team based at HMP Berwyn. The successful candidate will be joining at a time where services are under review and development in order to meet the changing needs of service users whilst gaining experience in offender health. The role provides an opportunity to join a newly established and integrated clinical team offering a harm reduction service to those within the custodial environment. The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
Main duties of the job
Good communication skills are vital as the role will include the direct management of service users on their treatment pathway. You will need to provide a holistic service and ensure that management plans are specific to individuals' needs and delivered in a way which the patient understands. You will be expected to attend and contribute to multi-disciplinary meetings and liaise with community teams, so establishing good working relationships with both the prison and community services will be vital. Our aim is to identify staff with a strong belief in recovery. It is important that you have a good understanding of caring for patients from all backgrounds, including an awareness of mental illness and substance misuse to identify risky behaviours. You will be joining a team committed to improving the health and wellbeing of patients under our care, so you will need to be approachable, energetic, resilient and adaptable to an ever-changing environment. In addition, we are keen to develop employees and offer excellent progression through various career pathways.
