Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a substantive post of Specialty Doctor in Orthodontics. The post holder will be employed by Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board (BCUHB) with up to 2 sessions at Wrexham Maelor District General Hospital in Wrexham available depending on the experience and qualification of the successful applicant(s).
We are looking for a caring and enthusiastic clinician who will help deliver high quality treatment outcomes with a patient centred approach. The successful candidate will treat a broad range of cases including those of a multidisciplinary nature and will have appropriate consultant support.
Main duties of the job
- To provide, with Consultant colleagues, a high quality general orthodontic service, including the treatment of the more difficult cases with functional and fixed appliances.
- To contribute to the orthognathic surgical programme, in liaison with maxillofacial colleagues.
- To contribute to the management of multidisciplinary cases with restorative and surgical colleagues.
- To participate in Audit and Clinical Governance, including the North Wales Orthodontic Audit Group and regional audit programmes.
- To maintain stipulated CPD requirements annually.

- Fully registered with the United Kingdom General Dental Council (GDC) BDS / B ChD
Desirable criteria
- Specialist Membership in Orthodontics or equivalent
- Fellowship in Dental Surgery or Membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgery or equivalent
Experience
Essential criteria
- Completed 4 years full-time postgraduate experience (or its equivalent gained on a part-time or flexible basis) since first obtaining registration.
- Excellent diagnostic skills
- Aware of limitations
Desirable criteria
- GDC registered specialist in Orthodontics
- Teaching of junior dental and nursing staff
