Overview

An opportunity has arisen for a mental health nurse to join us as a B6 MA Nurse in Memory Assessment Service (MAS) working across both Wrexham and Flintshire sites (0.5 split). This role will provide you with the opportunity to develop transferrable skills and become specialised in the assessment process.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct first line assessments and collect, collate and present information to MDT colleagues.
  • Share and discuss sensitive information and participate in the diagnostic process.
  • Provide knowledge and support during early stages of diagnosis and be involved with initial therapeutic group and individual work.
  • Lead an area of the MAS in the absence of the manager and deliver diagnosis and formulate treatment plans and initial reviews.
  • Work autonomously, including home visits and decision making in isolated rural settings.
  • Participate as a full member of the multi‑disciplinary team and take responsibility for a case load of patients.
  • Divide time equally between clinic and community care settings.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Experience in primary care, liaison, adult mental health or older person’s mental health nursing.
  • Ability to work independently and make complex decisions unsupervised.
  • Strong communication skills to present information to multi‑disciplinary teams.
  • Desirable: ability to speak Welsh; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome.
