As a Support Advisor you will be required to provide first line support for the Occupational Health, Wellbeing and Support service, which is an employee assistance programme. You will be responsible for ensuring confidentiality; diplomacy and discretion are maintained at all times.
The primary purpose of the role is to provide guidance should employees require support, report absent from work, or facilitate conversations to help individuals remain in work as part of a self-referral advice line. The post holder will promote recovery at the earliest opportunity, thereby helping to prevent long-term ill health and actively promote positive workplace health and wellbeing. The role also provides key support to the staff health and wellbeing programme, focusing on preventative and proactive engagement across the organisation.
Main duties of the job:
- To ensure confidentiality, diplomacy and discretion are maintained at all times.
- Provide direct employee advice to support employees, managers and the organisation through the service via telephone contacts.
- The post holder is the initial point of contact for the employee and therefore needs to record presenting information including health condition accurately, asking relevant probing questions to enable any future case managers to provide the most appropriate level of care/support.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Person specification:
- Experience: Minimum 12 months experience working within Occupational Health and Wellbeing.
- Qualifications: NVQ level 3 or equivalent experience.
- Essential Criteria: Dealing with patient/staff over the phone and dealing with difficult conversations and situations.
- Skills: Excellent communication, listening and facilitative skills, effective note/documentation keeping and good organisation and time management skills.
