The Straight to Test Clerk role ensures the delivery of an effective and efficient administrative and clerical service to the Colorectal team.
Main duties of the job include:
- Serving as the primary point of contact for the Straight to Test referrals pathway.
- Coordinating with a wide range of colleagues and stakeholders, including Department Managers, Consultants, clinical and administrative staff, GP practices, patients, visitors, health records teams, clinic receptionists, ward clerks, nursing staff, and outpatient management teams.
- Sending letters and EIDO consent information to patients selected for telephone clinic appointments.
- Efficiently processing outcomes and arranging any required diagnostics or follow-up clinic appointments.
- Keeping the Straight to Test spreadsheet accurate and up to date with regular monitoring of patient status.
- Ensuring all correspondence is issued on time and that patients are removed from outpatient waiting lists when appropriate, in line with local policies, procedures, and Welsh Assembly guidelines.
- Maintaining accurate, up-to-date information on the WPAS system, ensuring data quality and making pathway adjustments in accordance with policy.
- Managing clinic cancellations in accordance with PABC policies and procedures, escalating any issues to the Surgical Management Team.
- Communicating regularly with patients, healthcare professionals, external agencies, and BCUHB staff regarding appointment queries and clinic availability.
