Job Overview

The Adult Speech and Language Therapy Community Team in Betsi Cadwaladr Centre offers an exciting Band 5 Therapist position for a full‑time, permanent post.

Our community service provides assessment and treatment for patients with a wide range of neurological conditions in domiciliary, outpatient and community hospital settings across Conwy and Denbighshire. We also offer agile working and regular training to registered nurses and carers, feeding into specific MDT clinics e.g. MS, Movement Disorders.

Main duties of the job

You will demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills (including observation, listening and empathy skills) to support the individual needs of patients, families, working together with other professionals.

The successful candidate must be able to travel independently between sites. The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post. Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Main duties of the job

  • You will work with Team Leaders and colleagues in adult community Speech and Language Therapy services to ensure equity, efficiency and dynamic service delivery.
  • You will have the opportunity to develop the skills required to work independently with adults who have acquired communication and swallowing disorders, including successfully completed postgraduate dysphagia training.
  • With support, you will organise, plan and prioritise your own workload, and develop appropriate strategies for caseload management.
  • You will be able to deliver comprehensive communication and/or dysphagia management plans in the context of multi‑disciplinary working.
  • You will support placements for Speech & Language Therapy students.
  • You will supervise and provide safe delegation to non‑qualified staff, including Speech and Language Therapy assistants.
  • You will be involved in projects which contribute to service development.

Qualifications

  • Recognised qualification degree/equivalent in S<.
  • HCPC registered.
  • RCSLT registered.

Desirable qualifications

  • Membership of appropriate clinical network group.
  • Demonstrate understanding & involvement of clinical governance and risk assessment.
  • Knowledge of health legislation/policy.
  • Alternative and augmentative communication knowledge & skills.

Experience

  • A range of clinical experience across Adult/Paediatric SLT services.

Desirable experience

  • Experience of delegating work to non-registered staff.
  • Experience of working in multidisciplinary/ multiprofessional teams.
  • Experience of supporting service change.
  • Welsh/English therapy provision.
  • Aptitude And Abilities
