The Discharge Unit at Glan Clwyd Hospital has an exciting opportunity for you to join our team. We are seeking a highly motivated, reliable and enthusiastic Band 6 Deputy Ward Manager with a strong commitment to delivering high quality, patient centred care within a dynamic, fast paced discharge environment.

Main duties of the job

The Band 6 Deputy Ward Manager is responsible for supporting the Ward Manager in providing effective clinical and operational leadership within the Discharge Unit. The role ensures the delivery of safe, high-quality, patient centred care while facilitating timely, coordinated and effective patient discharged.

The post holder will lead the nursing team on and day to day basis, acting as the nurse in charge when required, and will promote and positive culture of teamwork, continuous improvement and compassionate care. They will work collaboratively with the multi disciplinary team to ensure efficient patient flow, reduce delays in discharge and maintain high standards of clinical practice, patient safety and Governance.

The Deputy Ward Manager will also support staff with development through supervision, mentorship and performance management, ensuring compliance with Trust policies, professional standards and regulatory requirements. They will contribute to service improvement initiatives, effective resource management and the achievement of of key performance indicators for enhanced patient outcomes and the overall patient experience.
