Applications are invited for a Consultant Radiologist with a sub-specialty interest in Breast, Gastrointestinal (GI), and Oncology Radiology. The Radiology Division is expanding to meet the demands of our increasing workload. The Health Board (BCUHB) recognises the importance of Radiology in delivering national and local standards in many aspects of healthcare and is investing in the expansion of Radiology. We are currently working towards the Quality Standard for Imaging (QSI). The Health Board will consider a Fixed Term Locum Consultant for this role.
Responsibilities
- The post holder will have responsibility for teaching, quality assurance, and service management within their specialist areas.
- Contribute to the wider workload of the department, including General Radiology, on call rotas, and teaching of radiology trainees, undergraduate students, and other hospital staff.
- Develop research links and/or teaching links with the University of Wales, Bangor.
- Participate in audit and contribute to management of clinical risk through monitoring clinical incidences and participating in departmental discrepancy meetings.
- Good record keeping is expected.
- Research is encouraged particularly when appropriate to professional development and service development.

Qualifications
- GMC Specialist Registration or within 6 months of obtaining CCT.
- FRCR or equivalent.
Experience
- Essential: Experience in cross-sectional imaging.
- Desirable: Broad experience in general radiology; experience in Breast, GI, and Oncology.
Skills And Ability
- Essential: Commitment to team approach and multi-disciplinary working; evidence of ability to work both in a team and alone; counselling and communication skills; ability to work on call.
- Desirable: Computing skills.
Management and Clinical Governance
- Essential: Commitment to participating in and understanding of the management process; understanding of strategic and operational issues underpinning Clinical Governance; willingness to attend and actively participate in departmental management meetings.
- Desirable: Evidence of management training.
Audit and Research
- Essential: Evidence of participation in clinical audit; understanding of clinical risk management and clinical governance; evidence of completed audit projects.
- Desirable: Evidence of participation in research-based publications.
Teaching and Training
- Essential: Ongoing interest in postgraduate and undergraduate teaching; evidence of commitment to lifelong learning and CPD.
- Desirable: Organisation of teaching programmes.
