Main duties of the job:

  • Offer general assistance to services providers and users and project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone.
  • Receive, assist and direct patients in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient and effective way.
  • Undertake a variety of administrative duties to assist in the smooth running of the General Office including the provision of clerical support to clinical staff and other members of the team.
  • Facilitate effective communication between patients, members of staff, secondary care and other associated healthcare and wellbeing agencies.

Qualifications:

  • Able to demonstrate English and Maths to GCSE or equivalent experience.
  • IT or word processing qualification (e.g. RSA 2 or equivalent experience).
  • ECDL NVQ Level 1 or equivalent in customer service.
  • Welsh speaker.

Experience:

  • Experience of using a computer system (e.g. GP clinical IT system).
  • Previous experience of working in a reception/office environment.
  • Experience of working with the general public.

Skills:

  • Ability to work in a busy environment, and deal with a number of different tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to communicate tactfully with patients.
  • Ability to resolve issues 'on the spot' using own judgement.

Knowledge:

  • An understanding of confidentiality involved with post.

Personal Qualities:

  • Ability to work as part of an integrated multi-skilled team member without direct supervision.
  • Ability to determine own workload priorities.

  • Welsh Speaker.
