This post is a fixed‑term secondment for 10 months due to maternity cover. You must obtain permission from your current line manager before applying. The role is for an experienced pharmacist to join the Unscheduled Care Pharmacy Team at Glan Clwyd Hospital (Emergency Quadrant) on a Band 8a maternity cover basis. The successful post holder will work closely with multidisciplinary teams and senior pharmacy colleagues, contributing to service development, education, leadership and quality improvement in a fast‑paced clinical environment. This role offers opportunities to develop advanced clinical practice, leadership and service improvement skills.
Main Duties
- Provide an advanced clinical pharmacy service across Unscheduled Care areas (ED, AMU, SAU and SDEC).
- Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to support safe, effective and timely use of medicines within unscheduled care pathways, improving patient flow and supporting early discharge where appropriate.
- Contribute to clinical decision‑making, including medication reconciliation, complex medicines management, prescribing advice and discharge planning.
- Support and lead the education, training and professional development of junior pharmacy staff and wider clinical team members.
- Participate in leadership, service development, audit, quality improvement and research activities within the Unscheduled Care pharmacy service.
- Work collaboratively with digital and informatics teams to support development and use of integrated electronic systems, improving medicines safety, patient flow and continuity of care.
- Support workforce planning and contribute to operational management of the Unscheduled Care pharmacy service as required.
- Act as a role model for advanced clinical practice, promoting innovation, patient safety and high standards of person‑centred care.
Essential Criteria
- MPharm degree or equivalent.
- Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council.
- Post‑graduate MSc/Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy or equivalent experience/qualifications.
- Non‑medical prescribing qualification (or working towards).
- Suitable level of experience working in the managed sector and/or community pharmacy.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- IT literate.
- Evidence of implementation of change.
- Ability to prioritise and delegate.
- Development of protocols and procedures.
- Committed to self‑study and self‑development.
- Patient focused.
- Ability to meet deadlines.
- Willingness to participate in general public holiday and weekend pharmacy services as necessary.
- Willingness to participate in 'on‑call' out‑of‑hours duty roster as necessary.

- Experience in relevant clinical area.
- Leadership and management experience.
