The post holder will provide comprehensive and high quality receptionist/telephonist service in a challenging environment that undergoes constant changes. The role requires exercising judgement and using a combination of skills to deal with day-to-day issues, while demonstrating a sensitive, caring, client-focused attitude and maintaining a calm, organised approach when working under pressure.
Main duties of the job:
- Deal with patient enquiries in person and over the telephone appropriately, efficiently, courteously, promptly and discreetly, recognising the different needs of individuals.
- Work flexibly with other practice staff to ensure the surgery is adequately staffed at all times.

Person specification:
- Candidate must be fluent in Welsh; this is an essential criterion.

Qualifications / Experience:
Essential criteria:
- Confidence in dealing with the public by telephone and in person
- Experience of using Microsoft Office packages
- Previous experience in a busy reception
- Education to a high standard
- Relate to public empathy/understanding
- NVQ level 1 in customer services or equivalent
- General understanding of how the NHS functions
- Communication skills: concise, accurate, grammatically correct
- Ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative
- Ability to speak Welsh
Desirable criteria:
- Experience of working within a Primary Care NHS setting
- Previous experience using EMIS and other NHS systems
- Previous experience in Customer services
