The East Primary Care Team is looking for an experienced, organised and enthusiastic Receptionist to work in our Health Board managed GP Practice (Beechley Medical Centre, Wrexham).

Previous experience of working within a GP Practice would be beneficial and knowledge of the EMIS clinical system is desirable, however training can be given. The demands of a GP practice can change on a daily basis and therefore this role will be challenging.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be booking appointments and dealing with patient queries therefore excellent communication skills and a confident telephone manner is required.

Proficient IT skills (including experience of Microsoft office) is also required as the post holder will also be undertaking a variety of administrative duties to assist in the smooth day to day running of the practices, including some data inputting.

The ideal candidate will have experience of working in a healthcare setting or a customer service environment but full training can be given to the right candidate.

The post holder will also be expected to work at other Health Board managed GP practices in the East area on an ad hoc basis to meet service needs and to cover staff absences. This will be discussed at interview.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

There is an expectation that the successful candidate will learn Welsh following appointment to the post.

Qualifications

  • Good standard of education
  • NVQ Level 2 in Administration or equivalent qualification/experience
  • ECDL
  • IT qualification or word processing (e.g. RSA 2 or equivalent experience)

Experience / Skills / Knowledge

  • Experience of using Microsoft Office packages
  • Experience of working in a busy reception or office environment
  • Experience of dealing with the public on the phone and face to face
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, ever-changing environment
  • Ability to input information onto a computer system with speed and accuracy
  • Ability to deal with a number of different tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with all levels of staff both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to resolve issues \’on the spot\’ using own judgement
  • An understanding of confidentiality involved with post
  • Knowledge of a range of administrative processes
  • Experience of using an IT system (e.g. EMIS, Oracle, WPAS)

  • Welsh speaker (level 3) or Welsh to be learned after being appointed to the post.
