Job Overview PLEASE NOTE THAT WE WILL ONLY ACCEPT APPLICATIONS FROM STAFF CURRENTLY EMPLOYED BY BETSI CADWALADR UNIVERSITY HEALTH BOARD An exciting internal opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and experienced Nuclear Medicine professional to provide strategic, professional and operational leadership for the Nuclear Medicine and PET-CT service within Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board.
Working as a senior leader within Radiology, the post holder will be responsible for ensuring the service is safe, effective, efficient and responsive to the needs of patients, clinical teams and the wider Health Board.
The Principal Radiographer/Technologist will lead service development, workforce planning, quality improvement, governance and performance management across the Nuclear Medicine and PET-CT pathway.
Acting as the Health Board's professional lead for the specialty, the post holder will provide expert clinical advice, support the implementation of national standards and best practice, and work collaboratively with Radiologists, clinicians, managers and external partners to develop and modernise services.
The successful candidate will maintain an active clinical role whilst leading innovation, education, research, audit and service transformation, ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient-centred care across the Health Board.
Main duties of the job Provide professional, clinical and operational leadership for the Nuclear Medicine and PET-CT service, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements, national guidance and Health Board policies.
Lead the development, implementation and evaluation of service improvements, new technologies and innovative models of care to support high-quality, sustainable service delivery.
Manage and support multidisciplinary staff, including workforce planning, recruitment, performance management, education, mentorship and professional development.
Develop strong working relationships with Radiologists, clinical teams, managers and external organisations to enhance service provision and patient outcomes.
Lead quality, governance and audit programmes within the specialty, ensuring robust risk management processes, investigation of incidents, implementation of learning and delivery of continuous improvement initiatives.
Contribute to operational planning, budget management, equipment procurement and achievement of performance targets.
Maintain advanced clinical expertise within Nuclear Medicine and PET-CT, providing specialist advice, supporting complex clinical decision-making and ensuring the highest standards of patient care.
Represent Radiology at local, regional and national forums and contribute to wider Radiology service objectives across the Health Board.
