Job Overview

This post will provide input to a variety of groups in line with the service area priorities as identified by the Head of Arts Therapy and supported by the Director of Allied Health Professions.

Job Overview

This is a fantastic opportunity for a driven and well-motivated Music Therapist to deliver Music Therapy to designated patient groups across Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board. This post will provide input to a variety of groups in line with the service area priorities as identified by the Head of Arts Therapy and supported by the Director of Allied Health Professions.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Main duties of the job

Provide clinical leadership under the supervision of the Head of Service, in the delivery of the Music Therapy service within specialist area by:

  • Developing, implementing, maintaining and cascading Music Therapy clinical standards in line with current evidence based best practice
  • Developing a competency based framework for practitioners working within the specialist area
  • Critical analysis, appraisal and synthesis of current research outcomes and/or relevant literature in order to maintain expert levels of knowledge and practice
  • Establish working partnerships with voluntary, third sector services as appropriate.
  • Actively participating in developing services as part of a national and local clinical network.
  • Develop care pathways, local clinical standards, guidelines and protocols informed by evidence for specialist area.

  • Degree in Music Therapy or equivalent, plus short specialist courses, experience to post-graduate equivalent diploma level
  • Master’s level education or equivalent level of specialist knowledge and experience

Desirable criteria

  • Membership of British Association of Music Therapy (BAMT)

Essential criteria

  • Significant post graduate experience with demonstrable experience in related clinical field which equips the post holder to be competent to carry a specialist caseload in specialist area. Experience of contributing to service development and implementing service changes
  • Understanding of supervision and delegation principles

  • Broad range of experience within community music settings
