Welsh language skills are essential for this post. An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Ward Clerk to join the team on Clwyd Ward in Mold Community Hospital. The role involves providing an efficient and comprehensive clerical support service for the Ward, supporting the delivery of high quality service to patients and staff. It is a busy position that requires staying calm under pressure and carrying out a variety of tasks with no two days the same.

Main duties of the job

  • The successful candidate will be the first point of contact for patients, relatives and visitors to the Ward, demonstrating a professional and sensitive manner while maintaining confidentiality at all times.
  • Working as part of the Ward Team, the post holder will provide clerical support to nursing staff, including:
    • admitting and discharging patients on the WPAS system
    • typing, data input and scanning
    • telephone duties and generic inbox management
    • liaison with patients and colleagues
    • appointment and diary management
    • minute taking and maintaining accurate records
    • problem solving

Applicants must have a good standard of education, good organisational skills and a professional telephone manner. Previous Ward Clerk experience and knowledge of the Patient Administration System (WPAS) is desirable but not essential, as full training will be provided.
