An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual to undertake the role of Dementia Support Worker within the Care of the Elderly team (Ffynnon Ward A) at Holywell Community Hospital. The successful applicant must have excellent communication and organisational skills, the ability to deliver the highest standards of care in a demanding environment, and experience of dementia care.

Main duties of the job:

  • Support Dementia patients during their stay in hospital, demonstrating care and compassion for patients with delirium.
  • Assist in developing the service for the future.

This is a demanding role that requires commitment and a positive approach towards change. The successful applicant will receive support to develop skills and ensure care of a high standard is delivered.

Full time position: 37.5 hours per week. The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Qualifications:

  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent
  • NVQ 4

Experience:

  • Working with people with dementia in a clinical setting
  • Has a positive attitude towards dementia care and those affected by dementia
  • Experience of supporting carers and families of people with dementia

Skills:

  • Able to work autonomously and as part of a team
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a stressful environment
  • Able to undertake education and basic teaching of staff members, patients and carers
