We are looking for a dynamic and forward‑thinking individual to lead the development of safe and effective clinical pharmacy services within primary care and community. You will operationally lead, promote and support the continued development of pharmacy services ensuring a focus on patient care and outcomes through team leadership and collaborative working with colleagues across the integrated health community. This is a part‑time role (22.5 hrs). The role will also deputise for the Head of Pharmacy, Primary Care and Community with other cross‑sector operational leads, representing pharmacy in the delivery of care and contributing to the resolution and direction of service delivery.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop and implement safe, effective clinical pharmacy services in primary care and community settings.
  • Lead and motivate a pharmacy team, ensuring high standards of patient care.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across the integrated health community.
  • Support the development of advanced practice across all professions, including increasing the number of non‑medical prescribers.
  • Manage conflicting priorities within tight budgets and time constraints.

Qualifications

  • Registered pharmacist with a GPhC Masters Degree or equivalent.
  • Post‑graduate diploma or MSc in a relevant pharmacy area or equivalent documented experience.

Desirable qualifications

  • Practicing member of RPS Management with qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Teaching/assessing qualification.
  • Independent/supplementary prescriber.
  • Electronic Computer Device Licence (ECDL).

Experience

  • Suitable level of experience in providing specialist pharmacy services.
  • Experience working effectively in a multidisciplinary environment.
  • Experience managing conflicting priorities within tight budgets or time constraints.
  • Knowledge of pharmacy services to mental health and community services.

Skills

  • Project and operational management experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to motivate and manage staff effectively.
  • Advanced knowledge of clinical pharmacy and evidence‑based therapeutics.
  • Awareness of statutory and professional standards for prescribing and pharmacy services.
  • Knowledge of health service developments impacting general practice and community pharmacy.
  • Evidence of leadership skills and ability to influence and negotiate with external stakeholders.
  • Good communicator, motivated and able to work as part of a team.
  • Ability to develop excellent working relationships with individuals and partner organisations.
