The ability to speak Welsh is essential for this post. An exciting opportunity has arisen for a clerical officer to join the team at Denbigh Hospital. The purpose of this post is to provide an efficient and comprehensive administrative and reception service to Denbigh Hospital. The post holder will be the first point of contact for telephone communication. The post holder will work within the Denbigh Hospital administrative teams alongside the Site Administrator to provide a seamless administrative service to the Community Hospital.
Main duties of the job:
- Offer general assistance to service providers and users and project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone.
- Receive, assist and direct patients in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient and effective way.
- Undertake a variety of administrative duties to assist in the smooth running of the MIU Department and Outpatients including the provision of clerical support to clinical staff and other members of the team.
- Facilitate effective communication between patients, members of staff, secondary care and other associated healthcare and wellbeing agencies.
Person specification:
Qualifications:
- Essential criteria: Able to demonstrate English and Maths to GCSE or equivalent experience; IT or word processing qualification (e.g. RSA 2 or equivalent experience).
- Desirable criteria: ECDL NVQ Level 1 or equivalent in customer service.
Experience:
- Essential criteria: Experience of using a computer system (e.g. GP clinical IT system); previous experience of working in a reception/office environment; experience of working with the general public.
Skills:
- Essential criteria: Ability to work in a busy environment, and deal with a number of different tasks simultaneously; ability to communicate tactfully with patients; ability to resolve issues ‘on the spot’ using own judgement.
Knowledge:
- Essential criteria: An understanding of confidentiality involved with the post.
Personal Qualities:
- Essential criteria: Ability to work as part of an integrated multi-skilled team member without direct supervision; ability to determine own workload priorities.
