Job Overview
The post holder will be responsible for Older Persons Services, covering GP surgeries in the South Gwynedd area. The role will provide CPA reviews, ward round for inpatients, outpatient clinics, and medical input to the memory service. The post will attract a junior doctor depending on training rota availability and will undertake responsibilities under the Mental Health (Wales) Measure 2010 and the Mental Health Act (1983). The post holder will act as a section 12/2 approved doctor.
Main Duties of the Job
The post holder will provide specialist psychiatric assessment, treatment, and management for people with cognitive impairment (including young onset dementias) and those over 70 with functional illnesses. The post holder will work within the Legislative arrangements of the Mental Health (Wales) Measure 2010, providing medical leadership to the CMHTE, and consultation work with Primary Mental Health Services for the Elderly. The post holder will care coordinate personal cases, provide care and treatment plans, and provide consultant and responsible clinician services to patients admitted to Hergest and Cefni Units. The post holder will provide reports and consultation services to support the Health Board in the commissioning of long‑ health care for patients from the catchment area.
