The North Wales Brain Injury Service (NWBIS) is an inter-disciplinary neuro rehabilitation and consultation service, based at Colwyn Bay Community Hospital. It is the hub of clinical neuropsychology in the region. An exciting and unique opportunity has arisen for a Clinical Psychologist to become a core member of our neuropsychology team. The Post-holder will be responsible for supporting the development and delivery of clinical neuropsychology services to the stroke pathway (acute, inpatient rehabilitation, and early supported discharge) across North Wales. The post holder will work closely with the Head of the North Wales Brain Injury Service and Clinical Lead Consultant Neuropsychologist in Stroke to develop a sustainable model of clinical service delivery. This post is Fixed Term/Secondment for 9 months due to the needs of the service.
Main Duties
- The post-holder will work in inpatient and community settings to offer a high quality, responsive, and patient-centred model of psychological care in an agreed locality.
- This will involve clinical supervision of assistant psychologists and other healthcare professionals.
- The post holder will also work as a senior member of the service and carry a highly specialist clinical caseload.
There are excellent opportunities for continued professional development and clinical supervision and support will be offered for further training and formal education. NWBIS has close links with Bangor University and we are able to offer opportunities to contribute to research and other academic activities with the University. We are able to provide supervision and support for the Qualification in Clinical Neuropsychology.

Person Specification
Qualifications and Knowledge
- Essential Criteria: Good Honours degree in Psychology. Eligibility for Chartered status with the BPS and HCPC registration. Post-graduate Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996) as accredited by the BPS.
- Desirable Criteria: Knowledge of the theory and practice of specialised psychological therapies in specific groups.
Experience
- Essential Criteria: Experience of specialist psychological assessment and treatment of clients across a wide range of care settings.
- Desirable Criteria: Experience of teaching, training and/or supervision.
Aptitude And Abilities
- Essential Criteria: The ability to demonstrate competence to work within the designated speciality.
- Desirable Criteria: Ability to speak Welsh.
