There has never been a better time to join our established and skilled team within CAMHS. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the further growth and development of crisis care provision for children and young people across North Wales. These newly developed posts, based within the Wrexham area, will provide caring clinicians with flexibility, autonomy, and opportunities for professional growth and development.
As part of our transformation and development of Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services, we are strengthening our leadership, pathways, and services to provide a rapid, robust, and extended multi-agency crisis response. This includes prompt assessment, liaison, consultation, training, and, where appropriate, intensive time-limited interventions for children and young people up to age 18 experiencing an acute mental health and/or psycho-social crisis.
We are looking to recruit experienced, registered practitioners and welcome applications from those who have not worked in CAMHS but possess transferable skills relevant to the role. Skills and experience in working with young people and families with complex difficulties, conducting mental health assessments, and risk management are desirable. The ability to speak Welsh is also desirable; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
Main Duties of the Job- Undertake assessments within A+E, paediatric wards, and other community settings to provide rapid crisis response, ensuring safety for the young person and others.
- Provide clinical formulation, identify needs of the young person and family, offer liaison, consultation, and brief intervention to facilitate safe discharge and support care planning across partner agencies.
- Flexibility to work as the service develops to a 24-hour provision is required.
- Work as part of a multi-disciplinary unscheduled care service with children and young people experiencing a mental health or psycho-social crisis, where hospital admission may be necessary but can be safely avoided or supported at home or in community settings.
- Provide urgent assessment and brief intervention, including evidence-based therapies for CYP with mental health issues, and support parents, carers, and professionals through education, advice, and guidance.
- Collaborate with the team to work flexibly, creatively, and responsively to client needs, ensuring good links within the CAMHS area and relevant agencies.
