We are delighted to offer this exciting opportunity for an experienced nurse to join our Specialist Palliative Care Team (SPCT), currently consisting of Hospital and Community Macmillan Palliative Care Nurse Specialists, Consultants in Palliative Medicine, and Admin and Clerical Team. The SPCT provides specialist support, care and advice to patients and their families living with life limiting illness, in the west of North Wales, across primary and secondary care.
The post holder will contribute to the delivery of a high quality, accessible palliative care service, providing specialist support, care and advice to patients and their families living with life limiting disease. The post holder will be expected to work flexibly and rotate across Mon and Gwynedd community as required, including weekdays and regular weekends, during the hours of 9 - 5pm.

Main duties of the job:- To work within the Specialist Palliative Care Team (SPCT), Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board.
- To contribute to the delivery of a high quality, accessible palliative care service, providing specialist support, care and advice to patients and their families living with life limiting disease.
- The Highly Specialist Nurse is an autonomous practitioner and has the freedom to act to influence patient care and service provision.
- They will exercise higher levels of judgement, discretion and decision-making in specialist palliative care, in relation to the management of patients, their carers and professionals involved in their care, across all specialities and all care settings.
- The Highly Specialist Nurse will be able to demonstrate higher levels of clinical decision making and so enable the monitoring and improving of standards of care through supervision of practice, clinical audit, development of practice through research, teaching, and the support of professional colleagues and the provision of skilled professional leadership.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
Person specification:- Education and qualification:
- Registered General Nurse
- Substantial experience in a relevant speciality within a senior position
- First level degree or knowledge gained through equivalent experience
- Post-basic qualification in palliative care or relevant area or knowledge gained through equivalent experience
- Master’s level learning or prepared to work towards
- Evidence of continued professional development
- Advanced Communications Skills Training or prepared to work toward
- Relevant Knowledge and Experience:
- Post registration experience, at Band 6 or above, in palliative care or relevant speciality
- Experience of teaching
- Leadership and management experience
- Experience of multi professional working
- Ability to lead and influence change
- Skills And Ability:
- Ability to independently make clinical decisions
- Possess excellent and effective communication skills
- Evidence of effective time management and organisation skills
