This post is fixed term/secondment for 2 years due to funding. If you are interested in applying for the secondment position, you must obtain permission from your current line manager prior to applying for this post.

Are you an enthusiastic and highly motivated Nurse who is ready for a challenge? The West Site Stoma / Colorectal Nursing team is seeking a highly self-motivated CNS, with a desire to promote and develop clinical excellence in clinical practice. The successful post holder will join an established Stoma / Colorectal Nursing team and provide nursing support to inpatient / outpatient areas.

Main duties of the job:

  • The post holder will be required to deliver patient care complementary to that offered by Doctors and other health care professionals within the field of Stoma / Colorectal Care as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • The successful post holder will act as part of the stoma care nursing team and support both in-patient and out-patient services to ensure patients receive appropriate management/treatment, aid their pathway and contribute to decreased length of stay.
  • The post holder will work collaboratively as a member of the Stoma / Colorectal team to ensure both elective / emergency patients receive holistic assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of their care needs.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Job responsibilities:

  • Registered Nurse with current Registration with the N.M.C.
  • Post Registration Education, a Diploma / Degree Level
  • Post-Registration nursing experience at Band 5 level or above
  • Demonstrate involvement in change management and successful implementation of practice / quality improvements.
  • Excellent Organisational and Leadership skills.
  • Experience of multi-professional working / working effectively with other stakeholders.

Person Specification:

  • Skills/Competence: Demonstrates knowledge of the advances and current issues in Lower Gastro-intestinal disorders.
  • Excellent verbal and non-verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrate teaching skills.

Qualifications:

  • N.M.C. current Registration
  • Have or be working towards a Nursing Diploma.
  • Stoma/Colorectal Course or equivalent.

Experience:

  • Substantial post-registration experience with experience of Stoma/Colorectal patients.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of the advances and current issues in Lower Gastro-intestinal disorders.
