What we’re looking for: You’ll:

  • Deliver safe, effective clinical pharmacy services within your allocated area
  • Take part in the pharmacist rota, including on‑call duties
  • Provide expert medicines advice across primary and secondary care
  • Promote evidence‑based, cost‑effective use of medicines
  • Support and train other pharmacy team members
  • Get involved in practice development and research

Main duties of the job:

  • Provide a safe and effective clinical pharmacy service to allocated clinical area
  • Undertake professional clinical pharmacist duties as per rota, including on‑call provision
  • Provide pharmaceutical advice and support within both primary and secondary care services as required
  • Develop, encourage and promote evidence‑based, cost effective use of medicines
  • Assist in providing clinical training and supervision of other pharmacy staff
  • Be involved in the development and delivery of practice research

Person specification:

Essential criteria:
  • MPharm degree or equivalent
  • Registered as a pharmacist with the GPhC
  • Knowledge of clinical pharmacy and therapeutics
  • Knowledge of electronic and manual information sources
  • Experience of working with direct patient contact (managed sector or community pharmacy)
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Decision making and problem solving skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work in a team
  • Computer literate
  • Willingness to participate in on‑call out of hours duty roster and bilingual service where necessary
Desirable criteria:
  • Postgraduate MSc/Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy or equivalent qualification
  • Training qualification
  • Practicing member of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society
  • Experience of patient‑orientated medicines systems
  • Organisational ability
  • Welsh speaking (preferred)

  • Interested in general public holiday and weekend pharmacy service provision
  • Willingness to work in bilingual areas and participate in on‑call duties
